MDD - 2025

Elite High School Entebbe came alive with color, rhythm, and cultural pride as students showcased their incredible talents during the annual MDD (Music, Dance & Drama) Festival. The event was a powerful reminder of the importance of preserving our heritage, expressing creativity, and building confidence through the performing arts. From the first drumbeat to the final bow, the entire school community was treated to a vibrant celebration of Uganda’s rich cultural diversity and the students' artistic excellence. A Day of Culture and Creativity The MDD Festival brought together all classes and houses in a friendly competition that encouraged participation, innovation, and collaboration. Under the guidance of their teachers and MDD coordinators, students prepared performances that were nothing short of outstanding. Each presentation was evaluated based on creativity, coordination, cultural representation, and message delivery — and the results spoke for themselves. The Programme Featured: • Traditional Folk Dances: Representing various Ugandan regions, these dances blended costume, rhythm, and movement to retell ancient stories and celebrate local identities. • Instrumental Music Performances: From the adungu to the engoma, students wowed the audience with their mastery of traditional and modern instruments. • Choral Singing: Harmonious voices delivered both contemporary and traditional songs, stirring deep emotions and showcasing vocal discipline. • Drama Pieces: Skits tackled current social issues like environmental protection, peer pressure, and the value of education — delivered with humor, depth, and insight. • Creative Dance: Infused with modern choreography, these performances brought an energetic twist to traditional rhythms, highlighting the adaptability and evolution of African culture. Major Highlight of the Day The standout moment of the festival was the inter-house drama competition, where Green House left the audience speechless with a gripping play titled "The Price of Silence." The performance, which tackled the dangers of ignoring mental health among youth, received a standing ovation. The emotional delivery, mature scriptwriting, and powerful acting earned them the Best Drama Performance award of the day. Winners and Recognition After a competitive and inspiring line-up of performances, the final house rankings were announced: 🥇 1st Place – Green House 🥈 2nd Place – Red House 🥉 3rd Place – Yellow House 🏅 Best Solo Performance – Joan Nakato (S.4) 🏅 Best Instrumentalist – Mark Tumusiime (S.3) Each participant received certificates of recognition, and the winning house took home the MDD Trophy 2025. A Heartfelt Thank You We extend our sincere gratitude to the MDD department, cultural leaders, student choreographers, and support staff who worked tirelessly behind the scenes.
